The Benefits of Window Treatments

One of the simplest and most effective ways to alter the appearance of a room in your home is to install window treatments. When you add a functional window treatment, you suddenly have control over the amount of sunlight allowed in to your home and get a better handle on privacy. Whether your reason for installing window treatments is for aesthetics or practicality, here are some key benefits of adding them to your Greensboro, NC home.

A Window Treatment is Much More than Just a Window Covering - A window treatment is so much more than simply a covering for your window. Different types of window treatments can be used to boost your windows’ functionality and style. Some common types of window treatments include: blinds, shades, and shutters. While functionally different, they all serve the same basic purpose: to control light, insulate, provide privacy, and pull together a room’s décor. You can use a single treatment or you can combine with different design layers to create a desired effect.

Improved Aesthetics - Premium window treatments come in a plethora of styles.  Using gorgeous, rich materials, there is a window treatment to compliment any design vision.  Whether you taste is traditional, contemporary, or something in-between, you can find a beautiful window covering to add that special touch.

Sun Protection - Perhaps the most important advantage of new window treatments is sun protection. Whether you choose blinds, shades, shutters, or draperies, they offer protection from the heat of the sun. Most homeowners know that over a period of time, the sun's UV rays can damage your furniture, walls and carpeting. However, when you install quality window treatments in your home, you can control the amount of sun allowed into your home and prevent this type of damage.

Privacy - We offer many great window treatments that functionally control light through the day and offer the privacy you want or need at night. The ability to keep prying eyes out of your home offers a sense of safety. This could also be useful in confidential business meetings, or to segregate one part of a work area from another.

Energy Savings - Most all window treatments provide insulation around your windows - some are better than others. For instance, when the weather is hot outside, your window treatment will work to prevent heat from coming indoors, and in the winter time, the heat from your home will be trapped inside. This allows you to enjoy comfortable temperatures all year round. Even better, energy consumption from your heating and cooling system will be noticeably reduced. I like how you said that window treatments are important to prevent sun damage. We have a few pieces of furniture that belonged to my mother in law before they belonged to us. They are still in surprisingly good shape and we would like to keep it that way. We'll have to ensure that we get some kind of a windows treatment that will help keep out the sun's harmful rays.

My husband and I recently moved into our new home and we want to increase the appeal of the windows. I had no idea that window treatments can provide control over the amount of sunlight allowed in your house and give you more privacy. I like that you say window treatments also decrease your energy consumption and save you money, which is very important to my husband and me! Thank you for sharing these benefits!

I've always wanted some privacy in my home so I'll be sure to get some window treatments to put on my bedroom windows. Since you pointed out that it will protect my furniture from the sun, I'll get some for the living room as well so the vintage table won't deteriorate. I like that it can lead to improved aesthetics as well so I might choose some luxurious drapes for my bedroom to make it prettier.

It was a nice tip that you mentioned premium window treatments come in a variety of styles. I am a first time home builder and I've been learning more and more about the little things that can be important for decorating your home. I would love to see what window treatments I can get to help accommodate the contemporary look I'm going for.
